Another newer Lily Allen song ‘Everyone’s on it’ or something, not sure what it’s called
Oh and ‘Golden Brown’ by The Stranglers about herion, never touched the stuff myself but whilst it has a horrible meaning the music is fantastic.

Life spent with lips on glass
Another hit, just onemore blast
How long can you make it last?
Hit the pipe and vaporize
Feel the rush, so energized
Your lungs begin to crystalize
Try to stem the tide
From another five day ride
Don’t you know you’re dead inside?
The world spins out of control
All amped up, no where to go
A glass house is all you know[Chorus]
Poison cloud hangs in the air
Breathe it deep, your only care
It’s a nightmare, not a dream
Deathamphetamine!Spun and sleep deprived
The calender burns before your eyes
Another hit, for now revived
So many sleepless nights
Only wet your appetite
Strike a match, the torch ignites
See the shards start cracking back
Watch them turn your world to black
While waiting for the heart attack
All your dreams are dead and gone
I tell younow, it won’t be long
Before death ends this marathon[Chorus]
[Solo: Gary]
[Solo: Lee]Withered and sucked up
You’re wasting away
Eyes sunked deep in you skull
You care not about yourself
Nor any other
Only if the pope is full
Lick your lips
As you hover around the glass
Anxiously awaiting your turn
Depressed and paranoid
It’s all gone to hell
Inhale as your world burns
Lost everything you own
Now waiting by the telephone
For the dope man to come home
All your friends and family
Are sickened by your need for speed
Only driven to exceed
So many years, so little time
For you, to halt your life’s decline
Your’re not to read the signs
Everything has come unwound
You’ve got to trun this **** around
Before you’re six feet undergroundAnonymous

Pick up and shake in the wind
Shed your resource and keep it down, trashed
Don’t make it right, don’t move it in
Put it in the mouth, and swollowed whole
Smashed
(It makes all the sense to me, and could it make all the sense to you? Let
it ride)Because there ain’t no winning in this one right
I try to facilitate, whine in restoration
BlewnBlow through the prime of life
Numb all the senses down
Project your fear of heights
Onto untravelled groundFry and hallucinate, pry and investigate
Blow through the prime of life
Numb all the senses down
Project your fear of heights
Onto untravelled groundPitfalls of grief, on all that displayed for the groundout
Prophetically speaking the wilted unformulatedAnonymous

Peace will come to me
Peace will come to meI’m leaving bitterness behind
This time I’m cleaning up my mind
There is no space for the regrets
I will remember to forgetJust look at me
I am walking of incoming
Look at the frequencies of which I vibrate
I’m going to light up the worldPeace will come to me
Peace will come to meI’m leaving anger in the past
With all the shadows that it caused
There is radar in my heart
I should have trusted from the startJust look at me
I am a living act of holiness
Giving all the positive virtues that I possess
I’m going to light up the worldPeace will come to me
Just wait and see
Peace will come to me
It’s meant to bePeace will come to me
Just wait and see
Peace will come to me
It’s inevitabilityAnonymous

Tonight has been long, I’ve smoked every breath,
Tryin to feel so alive, tempting death,
I’ve smiled at the angels, but I fear where they live,
I’ve taken too much but nothing to giveMy chemical courage, has come to an end…
The night once my lover is no longer a friend.Well tonight has gone wrong, cause I said what I said,
I’ve been left all alone, to lie in my bed.
Thinking, I’m just a fake, that nothing is real,
If I’m asking to be saved I must learn how to kneelNow my chemical courage has come to an end…
The night once my lover is no longer my friend.
Playin tricks on my eyes, shining light on my tears,
I pray for a new day to hide all my fears.I can’t find my way, back to where I felt safe.
Now my chemical courage has come to an end,
The night once my lover is no longer my friend.
Playin tricks on my eyes, shining light on my tears(Repeat)

Wake Up – Mad Season (a side-project of Layne Staley of Alice in Chains and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam)
Wake up young man, it’s time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go
For 10 long years, for 10 long years
The leaves to rake up
Slow suicide’s no way to go, oh
Blue, clouded grey
You’re not a crack up
Dizzy and weakened by the haze
Moving onward
So an infection not a phase
Yeah, ohThe cracks and lines from where you gave up
They make an easy man to read, oh
For all the times you let them bleed you
For little peace from God you plead, and beg
For little peace from God you plead
Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, YeahWake up young man, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Oh, yeahWake up young man, it’s time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go, yeah
For 10 long years, for 10 long years,
The leaves to rake up
Slow suicide’s no way to go, oh
Slow suicide’s no way to go
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake upThe song gives me the chills every time. Its so unfortunate that Layne never could come to grips with his demons. When I was still using, listening to this song would fill me with guilt and regret. Now that I’m clean, its a reminder to stay vigilante and serves as inspiration to help my fellow addict. Powerful stuff.

InactiveMarch 16, 2019 at 10:01 amPost count: 6A google search for “songs for recovery” led me to the website. This is the first I have heard of it. I have personally found music to be instrumental in my recovery. I know you won’t find it in any of the official NA/AA literature but I think we all need to develope healthy coping skills to deal with the emotions we have attempted to mute or stiffle for so long. Prayer, phone calls and meetings work great; but I have to say that honestly my first line of defence when I’m beginning to come emotionally unhinged is usually taking time out and listening to some good music. I can tell from the nearly 6 years of continual postings on this topic that I’m not alone.
To be honest some of the songs mentioned, especially early on in the thread seem like they would be more detrimental to me than positive. I’ve actually had to clear songs out of my music library and MP3 player because they evoked euphoric recall for me. I know every time I would listen to Lemonheads “Drug Buddy” I became nostalgic for my early months of drug use. I’m going to go through my library and post some of the songs I have personally benefitted from. Hope it might help someone else out. If they’ve already been posted, sorry. I didn’t take the time to read every single post.

Oh, oh, oh
Because your speech is slurred enough
That you just might swallow your tongue
I’m sure you’d want, want to give up the ghost

Moving like the fog on the Cumberland River
I was leaving on the Delta Queen
And I wasn’t ready to go
I’m never ready to go
27 of nothing but failures and promises that I couldn’t keep
Oh lord, I wasn’t ready to go
I’m never ready to go
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of the darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger’s angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it goLoaded like a sailor
Tumbling off a ferry boat
I was at the bar till three
Oh Lord, and I wasn’t ready to go
I’m never ready to go
Tennessee’s a brother to my sister Carolina where they’re gonna bury me
And I ain’t ready to go
I’m never ready to go
Let it ride let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger’s angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it goI wanna see you tonight
Dancing in the endless moonlight
In the parking lot in the headlights of cars
Someplace on the moon
Where they moved the drive-in theater
Where I left the car that I can’t find but I still got the keys to
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger’s angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it goAnonymous

I know I got a bad reputation
and it isn’t just talk, talk, talk
If I could only give you everything
You know I haven’t gotI couldn’t have one conversation
If it wasn’t for the lies, lies, lies
And still I ought to tell you everything
’till I close my eyesSuddenly I’m on the street
Seven years disappear below my feet
Been breaking down
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?Suddenly I’m down in Herald’s Square
Looking in the crowd, your face is everywhere
Been turning around
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?Don’t try to be an inspiriation
Just wasting your time, time, time
You know about the best I’ll ever be
See it in your eyesI know I got a bad reputation
and it isn’t just talk, talk, talk
If I could only give you everything
You know I haven’t gotSuddenly I’m on the street
Seven years disappear below my feet
Been breaking down
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?Suddenly I’m in another place
Looking in the crowd I think I see your face
Been turning around
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?
(Down, Down, down)
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?
(Down, Down, down)
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?
(Down, Down, down)Don’t you think I’ve heard the talk?
Nobody’s going to tell me who to love
Been breaking down
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?Suddenly I’m down in Herald’s Square
Looking in the crowd, your face is everywhere
Just turning around
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?
Been breaking down
Do you want me now?
Do you want me now?
I’m just breaking down, down, down, down
Been breaking down, down, down

Read me the letter, baby,
Do not leave out the words.
Stories and cigarettes ruined lives of lesser girls,
And I wanna know,
‘Cause I want you to know,And it’s a strange condition,
A day in prison,
It’s got me out of my head
And I don’t know what I came for.Send me the money, baby,
Do not leave out the wage.
You know you’re the best thing ever
To come out of this place,
Hey I want you to know,
‘Cause I wanna knowAnd it’s a strange condition,
A day in prison,
It’s got me out of my head
And I don’t know what I came for,
I want you to know…It’s a strange condition,
A day in prison,
It’s got me out of my head
And I don’t know what I came for,I want you to know,
I want you to know…So leave out the others, baby,
Say I’m the only one,
Cut out the uniforms
And settle with the sun,
Hey I want you to know,‘Cause I wanna know,
And it’s a strange condition,
And life in prison,
It’s got me outta my head
And I don’t know what I came for,
I want you to know…‘Cause I wanna know,
Yeah I gotta know

Breathing from a hole in my lung
I had no one
With faces in front of me
Racing through the void in my head
To find traces
Of a good luck academyOoh Ooh Ooh
Sparks ignite and trade them for thought
About no one
And nothing in particular
Washed the sickened socket and drove
Resent nothing
There’s good will inside of meOoh Ooh Ooh
Wake me up lower the fever
Walking in a straight line
Set me on fire in the evening
Everything will be fine
Wake me up strong in the morning
Walking in a straight line
Lately I’m a desperate believer
But walking in a straight lineSomething I will never forget
I felt desperate
And stuck to the marrow
Invisible to everyone else
I’m a sex-change
And a damsel with no heroineOoh Ooh Ooh
Wake me up lower the fever
Walking in a straight line
Set me on fire in the evening
Everything will be fine
Wake me up strong in the morning
Walking in a straight line
Lately I’m a desperate believer
But walking in a straight lineI don’t need no time to say
There’s no changing yesterday
If we keep talking and
I keep walking in straight linesWake me up lower the fever
Walking in a straight line
Set me on fire in the evening
Everything will be fine
Wake me up strong in the morning
Walking in a straight line
Lately I’m a desperate believer
But walking in a straight line -
