The Bare Necessities
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature’s recipes
That brings the bare necessities of lifeWherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn’t be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin’ in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a fewThe bare necessities of life will come to you
They’ll come to you!Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That’s why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of lifeNow when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don’t need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?The bare necessities of life will come to you
They’ll come to you!So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
‘Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You’re working too hardAnd don’t spend your time lookin’ around
For something you want that can’t be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin’ about it
I’ll tell you something trueThe bare necessities of life will come to you

by Townes Van ZandtSometimes I don’t know where
this dirty road is taking me
sometimes I can’t even see the reason why
I guess I keep a-gamblin’
lots of booze and lots of ramblin’
it’s easier than just waitin’ around to dieOne time, friends, I had a ma
I even had a pa
he beat her with a belt once ’cause she cried
She told him to take care of me
headed down to Tennessee
it’s easier than just waitin’ around to dieI came of age and I found a girl
in a Tuscaloosa bar
She cleaned me out and hit in on the sly
I tried to kill the pain, bought some wine
and hopped a train
seemed easier than just waitin’ around to dieA friend said he knew
where some easy money was
we robbed a man, and brother did we fly
the posse caught up with me
and drug me back to Muskogee
it’s two long years I’ve been waitin’ around to dieNow I’m out of prison
I got me a friend at last
he don’t drink or steal or cheat or lie
His name’s Codine
he’s the nicest thing I’ve seen
together we’re gonna wait around and die
together we’re gonna wait around and dieAnonymous

Listen to Kenny G , David Sanborn or George Benson. There’s a lot of good jazz to listen to that’ll lift your spirits w/o reminding any one of drinking and drugging

That’s Why I’m Here
Kenny ChesneyNo I ain’t had nothing to drink
I knew that’s probably what you’d think
If I dropped by this time of night
Remember way back when
I promised you I’d drop in
At one of those meetings down at the YWell, they started talkin’ bout steps you take
Mistakes you make
The hearts you break
And the price you pay
I almost walked awayYou could hear a pin drop
When this old man
Stood up and said I’m gonna’ say it again
Like I do every week
For those who don’t know meIt’s the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I’ve been there, that’s why I’m hereThis ole boy stood up in the aisle
Said he’d been living a life of denial
And he cried as he talked about wasted years
I couldn’t believe what I heard
It was my life word for word
And all of the sudden it was clearIt’s the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I’ve been there, that’s why I’m hereI know for us it may be too late
But it would mean the world to me
If you were there when I stand to say
It’s the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I’ve been there, that’s why I’m here
Oh, I’ve been there, that’s why I’m hereAnonymous

InactiveMarch 17, 2019 at 2:47 amPost count: 10Go buy Mad Caddies Just One More. There’s a few songs on there that I’ve been listening to over and over. They’re the only band that I have ever felt got it.
Examples:
Last Breath:Still awake on a winters day
skies are gray and it’s cold
Smoke signals from my last cigarette
Lets me know that it’s finally getting old
Everybody hates me for the night before
The man you saw wasn’t me
And now there’s blood upon the bathroom floor
I’ve got a diseaseWait a while all I need is a friend
Come on stay a while won’t you please understandI’m ****** up with nothing ahead by the end
I know that I’ll never get sober
And I’m fed up with this miserable life after death
I know that I’ve taken my last breathMemories of how it used to be
Painted thick on my walls
Cold illusions pumping through my veins
Felt them there but I didn’t hear them call
Washed away all my darkest fears
Shoved them down to my soul
I keep them aged llike a vintage wine
I’m sure they’ll come out when they’re ready to goDrinking For 11:
Drinking for eleven, that’s just what i do,
When i’m not with you,
My heart goes to bedEnd of the bar, that’s just where i’ll be,
Don’t try and come find me
Cause i’m already deadWith one eye tied upon the open road
I feel your presence and i can’t let it go
It moves so slowly as it creeps into my mind,
Steals every breath i hav and leaves my heart behindWanna know what you’re feeling if your feeling alone
I wanna hear if you still care
The last time i remember you was the last time i wasn’t scaredWhen the nights start fading and the mornin’ arrives
I wanna still feel you around
Will you creep into my head again and pick me up off the ground
Once more and tell mewhat you’re fighting forGotta try gotta try for tomorrow
When you can’t see through to day
There’s nowhere left to staySometimes i feel like im out here all alone
Just one in million stuck with no place left to goThe fear steps up to me with every move that i make
Following close behind my soul it wants to takeDay by Day:
My situation brings me down
Boredom wraps it’s arms around me
My inhibitions were thrown out the door so long ago
Now I sit here and I can’t breatheI feel I’m going nowhere fast
I ask myself how long this is gonna lastSo I go day by day
And it feels the same way
Laugh at all the jokes I’ve heard before
On and on I turn the same page
Drunk and lying passed out the floor
What forThese complications have been here for so long
I don’t think they’re ever gonna leave
Tired of dealing with motivation
Stagnant as the water that I’m gonna drown my head in
Soon you’ll seeThe reason the season
Locked up inside I’m screaming
I’m trying defying everything that wasn’t right
To get ou of hereAnonymous
InactiveMarch 17, 2019 at 2:47 amPost count: 20Well, I see Johnny Cash was mentioned, but the best two he did were written by others . . .
Kristofferson wrote “Sunday Morning Coming Down” . . .
Well I woke up Sunday morning,
With no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
* * * * **
‘Cos there’s something in a Sunday,
Makes a body feel alone.
And there’s nothin’ short of dyin’,
Half as lonesome as the sound,
On the sleepin’ city sidewalks:
Sunday mornin’ comin’ down. And that ode to the ol’ low bottom cowboy, “Ghost Riders in the Sky” . . . Written by Stan Jones in 1948…
http://www.homestead.com/deenotes/ghost.html
The riders rode on by him, and he heard one call his name
“If you want to save your soul from hell a ridin’ on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride,
A-trying to catch the devil’s herd across these endless skies.”
Yippee yi yay, yippee yi yo. the ghost riders in the sky.I’ve got a secret version of that one in my “Dry Drunk First Aid Kit.”
And finally, let us not forget Brother Brian . . . Wilson, that is, same last name as Bill, and the Beach Boys’ “The Sloop John B.” Never been seasick, but this one brings back memories . . .
The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the capn’s trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff john stone
Why dont you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go homeI always wonder if John B stood for John Barleycorn . . .

Blood and Wine
I’ve been with Sally
I’ve been with Sue
I’ve been with Cindy and her sister too.
Now I’m tryin’ to settle down,
Start a familyl wiith that cute little Kim.
But now that I’ve tasted blood,
Now this wine tastes too thinI’ve got a needle, don’t be alarmed.
It shoots streams of lovely things into my arm.
Well I’d sell my own mother for some sweet heroin.
Oh, now that I’ve tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thinSometimes the white coats; They hide black hearts.
We learn to sugar coat the same black guards.
If you headline the gold
I’ll cure richness sin.
Oh, now that I’ve tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thinOh, well I walked in the bank
And I pulled out my gun.
You should’ve seen those people scream and run.
I used to make an honest buck;
How can I go back to that again?
Oh, now that I’ve tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thin. -
