Hey all – I’m fairly new around here, posting mostly over on the Newcomer’s boards. I saw a new psychiatrist today to treat the bipolar I’ve been self-medicating with substances for like 2 years now. I have terrible insomnia and was taking Seroquel at a very, very small dose for that but it made me a zombie and I absolutely HAD to let myself sleep as long as I wanted or there was no prayer of my getting up. I literally couldn’t move. So, the new psychiatrist gave me a sample of Zyprexa (2.5mg but suggested I cut even that in half given my experience with Seroquel) to try (in addition to Lamictal and Wellbutrin which I was also on previously) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Zyprexa? I’d never actually even heard of it before (and I thought I was pretty well-versed on my psychiatric drugs!). I’ve been reading some horror stories online about gaining weight (which is a concern, but if it allows me to sleep through the night and wake up non-zombied the next day, I’ll deal with that as it comes) and type II diabetes…just wondering if anyone has any personal experience??
